Unlock Your Creativity: Build an Enchanting Spring Fairy Garden

Like most mornings, I started my day with a cup of coffee in hand, strolling around the garden while soaking in the gentle breeze and the cheerful chirps of birds greeting the day.

Spring is practically here—just a few days away! As I admired the garden, my creative mind started buzzing with new ideas.

Fairy gardens. I love making them for different seasons and holidays, and what better way to welcome spring than with a whimsical little fairy garden to sit on my potting bench!

If you have never made a fairy garden before, I highly recommend giving it a try! Kids absolutely love them, and honestly, so do I—because deep down, I am a child at heart! You do not need much to get started, and chances are, you already have plenty of supplies around the house. With a little imagination, almost anything can be repurposed into a magical fairy garden.

My motto is to keep things simple. I gathered an unused potting bowl, some soil, a few small trinkets, and, of course, a sprinkle of fairy dust! You could visit a garden center to pick out small plants, but I find so much joy in wandering through my own garden and propagating what I already have—succulents are my favorite!

To assemble, start by adding rocks as your base for drainage, then soil. Begin placing your plant cuttings and arranging your miniature world. Imagine yourself in this tiny enchanted land—what would it look like to you? For mine, I used miniatures, a little home, and some marbles for a glistening effect. Fill in with more rocks or moss and water gently. Depending on your plants, be sure to place your fairy garden in the right spot for sun or shade. Sometimes, I even add solar lights for a magical evening glow!

This one took me about an hour, and it was so much fun! It will grow and fill in over the coming months.

Do you enjoy making fairy gardens? I’d love to hear your ideas—let’s share inspiration!
